Today’s in touch devotion was awesome. My son also thought it was awesome. My son said he didn’t need this devotion to tell him God is awesome, but liked narratives on how awesome God is. Your going to see lots of quotes, they are all from today’s devotion.
The scripture affiliated with this devotion is: Revelation 4:9 | NIV
Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were createdand have their being.”
The intouch ministry devotion is entitled “OUR AWESOME GOD”
It’s true what this devotion says:
“In our culture, God’s name is often mentioned with little reverence.”
Reverence is lacking in society, in our workforce, in our culture and in some instances in our places of worship. The lords name is used in vain by some people, believers and non believers alike. God isn’t just some casual friend we met along the way, he is the everlasting father, creator of all.
“When you say a blessing at mealtimes, for instance, do you realize that you are talking to the almighty God who created and rules over all things?” My son and I were discussing over this notion from the devotion. He understands that every time we pray we are having direct communication with God. We are directly speaking to God with our troubles, our pleas, our requests, our praise, our thanks and when we ask for healing for others within our prayers. My son understood, whether praying for oneself or interceding in prayer for others, we are speaking directly to God.
This devotion speaks of how our view of God impacts three areas of life.
“First, it affects our prayers. As we come to know Him better and better, our desires will start to look like His goals for us, and our petitions will align more closely with His purposes. What’s more, as we recognize His greatness and power, we’ll become more confident that He can accomplish mighty things—and we will venture to “pray big” (Eph. 3:20; James 4:2). ”
“Second, our understanding of His righteousness and goodness influences our behavior: If God has these attributes, surely it’s in our best interest to obey gladly. And as we, too, desire righteousness, we’ll be quick to repent of sin.”
“Third, our faith is impacted. Grasping that Jesus is holy, good, and powerful grows our trust in Him. Knowing our awesome God and remembering His great works will further build our confidence in Him.”
To recap from the quotes from the devotion, our views of God impacts how we pray, our understanding and our faith. Prayers are important. It’s a direct mode of communication, it’s our link to him. It’s our base for our relationship, just like any other relationship we have to work to have it grow. We need open channels of communication, same goes with God. We need to understand how awesome he is, his righteousness, goodness, understand he is the creator and things happen at his will not ours. Understanding that he has a plan, sometimes we are to know the plan, sometimes we just have to accept and trust that we can’t always be in the know of things. We need to have faith. I should add trust. I feel that faith and trust do hand in hand.
NIV Psalms 68:35 |
You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary;the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God has done so much for us. There is so much more for us that we have yet to see those blessings. He doesn’t have to yet he does. He loves us. We should be always thankful and grateful despite where we are in life.
We have an awesome God.
He loves us.
He gives life.
He created us.
Created this planet.
Provides for us.
He has given us every talent, every tool, every resource we need to survive, it’s up to us to do something with it. We have all we need at our disposal.
He is an awesome God.
Father God I thank you for being an awesome God. I thank you for all that you provide day in and day out. You bless us in abundance and we are too ignorant to realize our blessings. Thank you for the sacrifice you made that granted us our salvation. Thank you for loving us. I want to continue to build our relationship. So I can pray more with you. So I can be more understanding in you. So my faith in you can continue to grow and reach new heights. I want more of you, more with you, I want to give more back to you and I want to grow more so I could never depart from your awesomeness. Amen.
