A Levitical-kind-of-love

As Kingfishers Catch FireDay 3  •  1 of 2
This is Day3 of a three part series for a devotional that I read. It was deep it was amazing. I do not remember where I got this whether it was online or via email I copied and pasted it because i wanted to re read it. Above is the details of the author so that they may get full credit for this.

I posted the other two parts of this devotional yesterday and the previous day. I will though add a prayer at the end of the devotional and word from this amazing series. Enjoy.
Devotional

Love, Love, Love

If we’re honest, most of us consider Leviticus dry reading, the kind of reading to do if you’re having trouble falling asleep or you’re doing some kind of forced penance. But not so fast. There’s something going on in those pages, something stirring.
“No single word in Leviticus has been quoted more often or in so many different contexts than this imperative verb in Leviticus 19:18: love. The word is threaded all through the rest of the Hebrew Scriptures and embedded on nearly every page of the New Testament. Love as a verb is personal, relational, comprehensive. Love is the primary verb in our Scriptures as a whole and in our language still.”
The uber-popular phrase these days is “Love wins.” But the question must be posed, “What kind of love?” And that question must be asked because there is the love we have for our trucks and cars, the love we have for musicians and their ballads, the love for sports teams, movies, pets, tacos, and the list goes on, doesn’t it? So if love does indeed win, and let’s believe it does, then again, what kind?
A Levitical-kind-of-love, that’s what kind. The kind that is straightforward without pages and pages of qualifications and loopholes. The kind that is direct and to-the-point and unconcerned with what’s uber-popular or not these days. The kind that loves a neighbor like we love ourselves, period, end of discussion, whether we feel like it or not. That’s the kind of love that not only wins, but conquers all, forever and ever, amen.

And to think we thought Leviticus was boring.

Just do it. Love your neighbor as yourself.
After day 3 I found where I got this devotional from: Thanks for reading through Eugene’s YouVersion Reading Plan!

Leviticus 19:18 KJV

KJV Listener’s Bible

18Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord.

Father God thank you for loving us. I ask you for guidance in embracing the “A Levitical-kind-of-love”. To be able to fully love everyone and embrace that ability. I pray for you to open my heart to love with all my might, so that love wins, so that love may conquer. Amen.

Speak in to existence

“Since we have the same spirit of faith…we also believe, and so we also speak.”
(2 Corinthians 4:13, ESV)
Have you ever squeezed a bottle of toothpaste and an excess amount of toothpaste came out.
More than what you needed?
Did you try to squeeze it back in?
It is very hard. Once the tooth paste comes out of the tube there is no way to take it back and put it back in.
We are stuck with the excess paste, even if we did not mean to, we are stuck with the excess paste, even if we don’t want it.
Think of our mouths as the toothpaste tube. Think of our words as the paste. Once the words come out, it is out, there is no taking them back.
So, with that stated, “Since we have the same spirit of faith…we also believe, and so we speak”.
So, um, what have you been saying? How have you been talking? Are you speaking in
Faith? Are your words a reflections of your faith? Are your words a reflection of your spirit? Are your words a reflection of God?
We tend to say things we do not mean, under certain circumstances.
We try to take back what we have said when we realized that what we said was in error or offensive.
The problem is, like the toothpaste, once it is out there, it is out there.  Think of the notion of Pandora’s Box.  Our Mouths can be a Pandora’s Box.
The person you were speaking with has already heard what you did not intend for them to hear.
Those words you wish you could bottle back up, is already marinating in the minds of those you did not intend to hear it.
Those words possibly offended someone, they probably are judging you for your words, not your actions.
As Christians, our attitude, our behavior, our characteristic, our vocabulary should always be of praise, of love, of kindness and a reflection of Christ as humanly possible.
So if you are speaking out hardships, hardship will come your way.
Your words will be brought to fruition.
It’s kind of like the laws of attraction, be careful what you speak out into the universe, for it can come to pass.
Same thing.
So here is what you do.:
God today may not be a going as I have anticipated, but I want to thank you, I want to thank you for providing for me today. I know you will turn today around. Today I may be struggling, but tomorrow will be a better day. Tomorrow I will bear fruits from my labor. Thank God, Praise God, Proclaim a positive outcome. IF you speak it it shall come to pass.
Your situation may be impossible to you right now. But know that all things are possible in Christ.
You want that raise, speak that that raise will happen, pray on it.
You want that new job, Speak of it, pray on it, it will come to pass in his timing.
You want a new house, Speak of it, pray on it, it will come to pass in his timing.
You want to see changes in the world.  Speak of it, pray on it, it will come to pass in his timing.
You need to believe, you need to give thanks, you need patience, you need to praise, you need to have faith in Him.
NO matter what always give thanks, no matter what always give praise, no matter what stay positive.
Father God I thank you today for enlightening me that my words, my words along with my faith can determine my outcome. That what I speak can come to pass. I thank you for your love, your guidance and providing for me regardless of the situation. Today may not be going as intended, but tomorrow will be a better day, because I trust in you. Tomorrow will be better because I declare it in your name. Tomorrow will be better, because today I thank you, praise you and I choose to say and do what hte word says. I choose to trust in you and let your workings come to pass so that I can not only learn from this situation, but bless your holy name. Amen.

Fear No Evil, this to shall pass

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me…”
(Psalm 23:4, NKJV)
We have all had moments where we have felt we have walked through the valley of the shadow of Death.
It is how one handles that walk that determines your outcome.
Are you afraid of what is up ahead?
Do you fear the evil that is among this walk?
Rebuke that fear.
We need to fear no evil and have faith in the fact that your creator is always with you.
You can walk through that Valley and still come out victorious despite the obstacles.
Stand tall.
Stay firm.
Remain in Faith knowing that the God you serve is beside you, inside you and always with you.
Do not let your storms, trials and tribulations discourage you.
No matter what you are facing, no matter how difficult, know that you are not alone.
Sometimes you feel alone, but you are not.
Sometimes you feel abandoned.
Please know that you are not.
Sometimes you feel hopeless, desperate, and begin to lose your faith.
Dont!! he is there. Always there, watching you, observing you, waiting for the moment for you to reach out and declare his presence he is with you so he can work his wonders.
Go ahead.
Walk Through.
Know that these rough patches are only temporarily.
These patches do not last forever.
God is is walking beside you.
God Strengthens you
God is already clearing your path for you.
God is lining up people and lining up people and circumstances to take you out of that place so you can have your victory.
Don’t give up!
I repeat Do not give up.
Look to the other side.
visualize the outcome.
Proclaim it in Jesus’ name.
Walk firm, Walk tall, Walk with faith.
You will pass through this valley and the shadow of death.
He will make sure you overcome.
“Almighty Lord, I thank you for being dutiful and faithful in my life. Thank you for walking with me, even when I feel I am alone. Thank your for guiding me down those shallow dark paths. Thank you for proving that you ware always with me. Thank you for your constant reminder that without you I am no one. Without you I would not be here. Without you I would not have been able to overcome those obstacles in my hard times. I fully trust my life in you. I full trust that you will always be with me. I fully trust you will always find an answer. I fully trust that your will, will be done. Thank you for my strength. I love you. Amen.

Spiritual Eyes

I received a text message from a sister in Christ. It was one of those text/ email chains. You know those inspiring ones where in the end it state “if you believe in the grace of God please forward to xxx amount of people.”
I usually delete these types of chains spiritual or not. I read them, take from them what the Holy Spirit has deemed for me to extract from them and I keep it moving. It wasn’t mere chance that I received it, it was ordained for a better purpose.
As I read the chain, I felt there is so much that can be elaborated other than the fragmented positive sentences…
This chain opened up my spiritual eyes and allowed me to see what really was there.
It wasn’t just another texting/email change but a message from God to Share.
Today I decided I will share this chain but in a post. I will add and take away from the chain so that someone who may be in need can read this. It is not by chance that today you came across this writing either.
  • Life is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship.
Life is all about building relationships. The scripture calls on building relationships with God. The scriptures call upon building relationships with each other. The scriptures calm upon building relationships via fellowships. The scripture calls upon building relationships. Here are some scriptures on building relationships:
Proverbs: 13:20
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Phillipians 2:3
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Collossians 3:13
Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another,
forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must
forgive.
  • Some people always throw stones in your path. It depends on what you make with them; a Wall or a Bridge? – Remember you are the architect of your life.
We should be encouraging one another despite our carnal flaws and not casting stones. We should be helping each other pick up the pieces to begin a new life. Empowering one another to live a better life. Make bridges, not build walls. Walls can be torn down, once it is torn down then it was built for naught. We see in the case of the adulterous woman, when she was brought before Jesus to be judged, to be condemned, Jesus asked:
John 8:7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Our own sins, no matter how few or seemingly insignificant they are, disqualify us as judges of other peoples sin. Remember that. Our own Sins, disqualifies us, to judge others.
Capture
He freed her, he liberated her. He reminded them of their flaws.
So what happened to the adulterous woman after that.
Well, she was forgiven and allowed the chance to start anew.
Jesus has paved a pathway of hope for her.
She can now build bridges and build relationships to grow.
Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good
for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those
who hear.
  • Search for a good heart, but don’t search for a beautiful face, coz beautiful things are not always good, but good things are always beautiful.
We are all beautiful, inside and out. We are made in his image. Though we are all beautiful externally and internally, remember not everyone whom have external beauty is good. The enemy knows how to entice, lure and deceive. He can use beauty to contaminate and deceive you.
Here is the description of the enemy:
2 Corinthians 11: 14
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Ezekiel 28:
You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
    for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.
16 Through your widespread trade
    you were filled with violence,
    and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, guardian cherub,
    from among the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became proud
    on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
    because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
Here is how Christ is described:
Isiah 53:2
“…He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.”
Though he is described as potentially having no beauty, we know his heart was good and pure, we know he is the prophetic son of God.
  • So we should always keep our hearts good, for beauty comes from our good nature vs our good looks.
1 Peter 4;8
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
Matthew 12:35
The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.
Phillipians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is
just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if
there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think
about these things.
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
  • It’s not important to hold all the good cards in life, but it’s important how well you play with the cards you hold.
In other words we are to live the good life and we can see this in:
1 Peter 3:8-12
8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For,“Whoever would love life
    and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
11 They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”[a]
  • Often when we lose all hope & think this is the end, remember God and pray, it’s just a bend, not the end.’ –
Psalms 3: 2-6
Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.”
But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain.
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.
We need to pray and not loose hope at all, we need to remember God does not let us go through something without a purpose.

Our trials, our tribulations are only temporary, so don’t loose hope, do not think this is the end, God will sustain you. Get down and Pray.

  • Have faith and have a successful life. One of the basic differences between God and humans is, God gives, gives and forgives. But the human gets, gets, gets and forgets. Be thankful in life…
We are gluttonous people. It is our gluttony that gets us in trouble. We need to be gracious each time God provides. We need to always be thankful. Thankful for the good, but also thankful for the bad that came before it.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
  • If u think it is your alarm clock that woke you up this morning, try putting it beside a dead body and you will realize that it is the Grace of God that woke you up.
We are alive, and Christ made that happen by the grace of God. Every morning I hear my alarm clock, and like many of you I constantly hit that snooze button. Sometimes I hit it one time too many. I woke up, not because of that annoying alarm.
I woke up (in the carnal sense) because by the Grace of God he allowed it to happen. I also woke up (spiritually) because I was once dead, but he has made me alive, I am fully alive by the blood of Christ, for believing in Christ for he took my transgression and sins up on that cross with him. I am alive, because he allows me to. I am alive, because he loves me.
Ephesians 2 1:10
Made Alive in Christ
2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Father God I thank you today for this chain letter you sent me this morning. I thank you for allowing it to open my eyse and see this chain letter on a whole other level. I thank you for opening up my spiritual eyes so that I may see. I once was blind, but you made it possible for me to see. I was once lost, but you made it possible to rebuke the confusion and understand. I was once shackled to my own bondage, yet you freed me. I am alive, because you allowed it to happen. I am alive because you love me. I love you and I thank you. Amen.

Believe & Declare

“It is written: ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.’ With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak.”
(2 Corinthians 4:13, NIV)
Believe and Declare in your heart that He will provide for you.
Believe and Declare that you will overcome the obstacles before you.
Believe and Declare that you will be healed.
Believe and Declare that the storm shall soon pass.
Believe and Declare it, with faith and trust in your creator for he has spoken these words to us, not just to say them to reassure us that when we truly believe, when we truly rely on him, when we believe and declare with faith, passion and the fire of the love of Christ, everything we declared will come to pass in his timing.
Despite my obstacles in my past.
Despite being told I would never be able to conceive and birth a child.
I believed and Declared that the sciences were wrong.
I believed and declared healing.
I believed and declared God would provide for my barren womb in his time, which he did.
I ask you today, to believe, with all your heart, declare it with every fiber in your being. If it is God’s will it shall be done.
Father God I thank you today for reminding me to always believe and declare victory in your name. Even when things are not going the way I want or expect, I declare and believe in your name that things will turn around. Father in the midst of difficult times I declare and believe we shall over come them. I pray for you reading this today. I do not know your circumstances nor yoru hardship, but with you together I believe and declare that you shall come through this. The time will pass and you will be rejoicing with God your victory. I pray that you can believe, so you can declare it in faith. Amen

Shackles & Chains

Ever felt like you were trapped in a cell like Paul an Silas?Locked, trapped, shackled, surrounded by four walls?

Image result for paul and silas
We’ve all experienced moments where we felt at a loss. Trapped. Suffocated. Isolated.
We all face trials and tribulations, some are bigger than others, some can even leave you in a situation of imprisonment. (Please for your own sake don’t let it get to that point).
So how do we get out of it?

How do we face our trials? Our moments of isolation and imprisonment?
Do exactly what Paul and Silas did.

Have you not heard what happened?
While imprisoned they started praying and praising.

What good did that do you ask?

They were freed.

The earth shook, the doors opened, the walls crumbled and they were freed. The romans weren’t too pleased but that was the least of their concern.
During their imprisonment do you know what Paul and Silas did?

They prayed, they praised, they prayed, they praised and then they did it all again.

Then they were taken out of prison.

God got them out…. broke them free…. a biblical Prison Break.

The full story of the events mentioned can be found in Acts 16:16-40; verses 16-24 discuss the events that unfolded that got Paul and Silas in Jail.

Verse 25-About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.
Prayers and praising God during the good and the bad God can release the shackles that bound you, he can break those chains. In the case of Paul and Silas it was literal, he literally broke the chains and shackled and freed them from their bondage.
This shows that their is power in calling on the name of Jesus. There is power in praising God. There is power in keeping faith even when the odds are against you. There is power in the grand I am.
Father today I ask you to free me from this bondage. To break away the shackles and chains. God I ask you to shake the earth so your presence is felt. I am grateful for you dear lord. Grateful for the air I breathe, the life you’ve given me, the people in my life. I’m grateful and thankful for all the life lessons you’ve taught me along the way. Even when the odds it seemed were stacked against me, you showed me that no matter what I am here, with you, and you will surpass this. I Pray for you reading this. That God provides you with what you need to break the chains, break those shackles and free you from your bondage. Amen.

When God is silent

When God is silent.
What does one do when we make a plea to God and he is silent?
Psalm 83:1

O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still.
Do you fret and wonder if he is answering your prayer? Does doubt set in? Nerves? Do you Trust in your creator?
There are times that the reason we can’t hear isn’t because he is silent, but because we are not paying attention. some times he does answer the prayers. He is just silent.
So what are you going to do about it?

You want to hear your creator? Feel his presence? Know he is with you? Be able to get direction and solace in the midst of the silence.
Take a step back.

Take a look at your reflection.

Stare at the man and / or woman in the mirror.

Could you see your imperfections the way your creator can?

No.

We can try, first thing focus.

Recenter your priority.

Recenter your focus.

Recenter yourself with him in the center of your universe.

Have you confessed your sin to your creator?
Psalm 66:18 says, “If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened” (New Living Translation).
We need to dig deep, no deeper in oneself.

Ask yourself:

Is my plea wrong? Is it favorable to you?

Is there something I did wrong?

Something I need to do?

(Yes sometimes we have to do a little work).

Are my motives pure?

Have I shown my love and faithfulness to my creator?

Our God is a jealous God, did I proclaim love for someone else more than God?

Should I repent?

Isn’t it wrong?

It’s ok let’s repent.

Accept that sometimes his silence can lead to the answer you are looking for…. or the answer he would rather give you.

Pray.

Praise him.

Submit.

Be patient.

Be silent.

Listen.
Silence can be a sign of intimacy and trust. He gave you the answer without saying so. Trusting in you, for the faith you have in him. Already providing the remedy before you even realized it, because you were sulking in not being able to hear him or get a direct answer.
Odd?

No of course not.

Ever had such an intimate bond with someone that just by looking at each other, you knew what the other was thinking.

A mere glance….silent in the same room yet being able to grasp a whole conversation. To be on the same wave length with another being.

Understanding every thought in that persons head without uttering a single word.

This is how our relationship with God ought to be. In the midst of the silence to be able to say thank you lord – I got the message.

I will heed your silent response. For in the midst of that silence more was done than you could ever realize.
Father I ask you today, in the midst of the silence, help me become more intimate with you. Help me become one with you. Help me understand my purpose in your plan in the midst of the silence. Help me hear you, in the midst of the silence. Help me connect with you, be on the same wave length as you. To be able to be in a silent room and know exactly what you have intended me to do. Amen
