The Pruning Process
“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no
fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will
be even more fruitful.”
(John 15:2, NIV)
At home, I have a Garden that my mother in law began.
When she moved out of our home and went to Florida she asked that I take care of her babies (not my husband and kids, but her plants).
So I told her I would give it a try.
I have always wanted to have a garden.
I have always wanted to grow crops on my own.
I figured how hard could it be.
Then I remembered I inherited my mother’s Black thumb, and not my grandmother’s green thumb.
Ay Chi chi!!!!
Her babies are OK, I just attempted several times ( I still do, because I have faith one day my thumb will be green) to add to her garden.
Well, one thing I have gotten good at has been pruning the rose bush and tending to the weeds (note to self, check the garden for weeds).
I carefully take my pruning scissors and clip of the extra long thorny stems, cut it short so the bush could only grow but so high.
Trimming just enough to get rid of whats not needed, while still keeping the branches that will bring bulbs which in turn will beautify the yard with Roses.
That’s what God does with us.
He prunes every asepct of our life.
He is the Gardener and we are the Rose Bush.
We have periods in our lives, like plants where we begin this whole pruning process.
You start pruning right before it is time to harvest your fruits.
Everything has a timing when you start pruning.
You never begin pruning a plant late in the season.
You never let the plant or Bush grow too high.
That’s what God does with us.
Everything in his timing.
His timing is precise.
He begins his pruning process.
so you may ask what does God prune in my life?
Well…Lets just say he prunes anything he needs to so that you may bear spiritual fruitfulness.
The Term prune means:
Trim (a tree, shrub, or bush) by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to encourage growth.
‘now is the time to prune roses’
no object ‘to limit growth, prune in summer’
1.1 Cut away (a branch or stem) from a tree, shrub, etc.
‘prune back the branches’
1.2 Reduce the extent of (something) by removing superfluous or unwanted parts.
‘the workforce was pruned’
1.3 Remove (superfluous or unwanted parts) from something.
‘Eliot deliberately pruned away details’
So god Cuts or removes things in our lives that can prevent us from bearing fruit of his blessings and anointing.
He moves people out of your lives strategically.
He gets rid of things that will give you temptation.
He ends relationships, which may potentially drive you astray.
A new job may show up.
A lateral move in a company.
Your boss may assign you to a different office or cubicle.
Your barber / hair dresser may not be available today.
Everything is for a reason.
There is no need to question it.
God knows what we need to grow with him spiritually.
We need to not understand why or what.
We just have to be faithful and trust in his timing.
His timing is always perfect.
When things change in your life.
When friendships end.
When transitions in general happen in your life.
Do not question it, accept it for what it is.
God is pruning the weeds, getting rid of the thorns so that you and I can bear fruit and blossom.
Thank you Lord for your perfect timing. thank you for holding the clippers, thank you for being my gardener.
Thank you for pruning my life so i can be filled with your blessings and grow spiritually.
Thank you for pruning my life so I can be a blessing for others.
I thank your for your gentle love and care with me.
I thank you for always trimming the right amount, even when i begin to wonder why.
I know you have the definitive answer and that you are only doing what is necessary for me to blossom.
I trust you father with my past, my present and my future.
